As a Camden Lock wedding photographer I have been very fortunate to attract the most fun, the very relaxed and the coolest couples in London town. Natalie & Joshua were no exception. We met at the Wedding Fair at the London Excel and we hit it off right away. I was very excited when I heard the plans for their wedding day, especially as Joshua and I realised rather quickly that we had the same taste in music. ‘My only job for the wedding is to sort out the music’ he said to me when we met, and he took this responsibility very seriously.
The bride and groom started of in a nearby hotel to get ready, with champagne flowing and everyone looking and feeling very relaxed. Natalie looked amazing in her beautiful lace dress and if there were any nerves then there was no way that I was able to tell. Emotions ran high, especially as the father of the bride (who is an absolute legend by the way) came to pick her up and take her to the church.
The wedding ceremony was held at Joshua’s family church where he grew up and where himself and all of his siblings were baptised and took their first holy communion. Don’t you just love it when there’s a bit of history behind a ceremony location? The church was phenomenal with massive stained glass windows. Everything seemed to glow in a kind of golden light which made everything seem regal. In fact it was a ceremony fit for a King and Queen. Everything was perfect.
The wedding reception was held at the Holiday Inn Camden Lock. The staff there were fantastic and very helpful. The highlight of the day was when we did the couples portraits after the ceremony. It was Camden on a very busy saturday afternoon. We walked through Camden market and got some great shots under the Camden Lock bridge. We actually had to stop traffic in order to put the bride and groom in the middle of the road to get the shot. They were welcomed by a round of applause and lots of cheering and congratulations. It’s times like these that makes me love shooting weddings.
Natalie and Joshua’s family were fantastic, they made me feel so welcome. They all danced and we had a laugh on the dancefloor as I boogied around with my camera in hand getting some great shots of everyone having fun. I had an absolute blast at this wedding and I would do it all over again tomorrow given half the chance. Here are a few of my favourites that tell the story of the day.
