Sophie & Jon are an amazing couple. They both met whilst on safari in Zimbabwe and after having had a blast at their engagement shoot a while back, I knew that their wedding day was going to be brilliant. They had a fantastic wedding at The Orangery in Maidstone. The weather held out for us (although I must say that my luck with weather at weddings has been very good thus far) and so we were able to make the most of the fantastic grounds.
My experience of being The Orangery Wedding photographer has taught me to never make assumptions. From the front as I entered the venue it looked quite small and I had no idea of the vast amount of space and different backgrounds that were behind the modest looking entrance. I was spoilt for choice with places to go with Jon and Sophie for their couple’s portraits which of course would be every photographers dream. Everywhere I turned there was another bench, or tree or water feature. Their wedding colour theme was purple and we were lucky enough to come across some beautiful purple flowers that matched perfectly with Sophie’s bouquet which I managed to incorporate in some of the shots.
I shoot weddings all over the UK and so I love the contrast between London weddings and those further out in places such as Surrey and Kent. As The Orangery Wedding photographer I get to take advantage of these fantastic rural backdrops that are fewer and farther between in London. Sophie mentioned to me that she loves greenery and so I can totally understand why she picked this as a wedding venue it was absoloutely beautiful and I can’t wait to shoot another wedding there again soon.
